The purpose of MillenniumDevelopmentGoals.net is to promote awareness and support of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through viral marketing techniques that include free downloadable widgets and banners, and syndication via RSS. Why do we say “you are about to change the world…”? The world of blogging, not only the general landscape of the web, has grown to astounding proportions. Bloggers customize their blogs with a number of widgets and plug-ins. Further, blog readers subscribe to blogs through RSS. We feel that many of these bloggers would fully support the MDGs if they knew about them, and that, once they knew, they would be enthusiastic about promoting the MDGs. Each person changes the world for the better when promoting, out loud, any positive goal. One way to do that is by putting MDG widgets on your site or blog. In doing that, you have changed the world for the better just that much. A million bloggers could make a real impact.
We feel that our concept of providing MDG-centric “widgets” to the world of the blog, bloggers will be enthusiastic about adding them to their blogs. Each MDG widget added to a blog further promotes the MDGs by linking to our landing page where, in a nutshell, the user can get the basics of the MDGs and can immediately participate for free by adding widgets to their site and/or creating more widgets for the MillenniumDevelopmentGoals.net catalog of widgets.

how this site is delivered…
MillenniumDevelopmentGoals.net uses a combination of the blog technology software called WordPress (installed on our server) and standard HTML pages. Images are entered into a FileMaker database that has been customized to generate much of the essential posting and javascript code. Regular HTML pages and WordPress templates are edited, for the most part, in DreamWeaver.
